UditVani, Jamshedpur : The investigation into the broad daylight killing of alleged gangster Vikram Sharma in Dehradun has gathered pace, with a dramatic turn emerging after his brother, Arvind Sharma, surrendered before the police.
According to officials, three suspected shooters -identified as Akash Prasad, Ashutosh Kumar and Vishal-have been traced through CCTV footage.
The accused were reportedly seen staying in Haridwar prior to the crime. Surveillance cameras installed at a hotel near the railway station captured their movements.
Investigators believe the assailants hired a scooter and a motorcycle from Haridwar to travel to Dehradun, executed the attack, returned the vehicles, and fled.
In a significant development, a team from Dehradun police has reached Jamshedpur to probe the wider conspiracy angle.
Sources indicate that a man identified as Prabhat is being actively searched for, with investigators suspecting his involvement in planning the murder.
Police findings suggest that Prabhat had earlier sheltered Arvind Sharma at a residence in Mango, Jamshedpur.
It is alleged that the duo conspired to eliminate Vikram Sharma. Arvind is also suspected of facilitating the procurement of weapons and supplying them to the shooters.
Investigators are probing a business rivalry as a possible motive. Prabhat and Vikram reportedly had an ongoing dispute over contracts and operations linked to a batching plant.
Police suspect financial losses amounting to nearly Rs 2 lakh per month may have fueled the alleged conspiracy.
A case of murder has been registered against unidentified assailants at the Dalanwala police station in Dehradun.
The complaint was filed by Akhilesh Singh, a close associate of the deceased, with the consent of Vikram’s wife, Sonia, who is said to be in deep shock following the incident.
The fatal shooting took place on Friday morning around 10:40 am, when Vikram Sharma was attacked outside a gym and declared dead at a nearby hospital.
Inspector Santosh Kunwar of Dalanwala police station confirmed that multiple teams have been formed to apprehend the accused and raids are ongoing at suspected hideouts.
Vikram Sharma was cremated in Dehradun on Saturday. Security has been tightened in both Dehradun and Jamshedpur as authorities continue to investigate all angles of the case.
