Jamshedpur : The Department of Mechanical Engineering, NIT Jamshedpur organised a three -day International Conference (3rd International and 15th National conference on Industrial Problems on Machine and Mechanisms (IPRoMM-2024) during December 19-21 .
The international conference kicked off on December 19 with the industrial visit to Tata Steel, Tata Motor and RSB Global.
The industrial visit was a good opportunity for many participants as they witnessed molten steel coming out from blast furnace, testing of truck on difficult conditions (testing tracks), and precision testing facilities and development of products at RSB to name a few.
The delegates were also honoured with a memento by the company they visited.
The delegates gave a 5-star rating of this visit including excellent hospitality.
Prof. Shalendra Kumar, Chairman, welcomed attendees, while Prof. Sandipan Bandyopadhyay, Vice President of Association of Machines and Mechanisms and Rakesh Bhargava, Guest of Honor, delivered addresses.
Prof. Chitranjan Sahay, another guest of honour, and Prof. R. V. Sharma, Deputy Director of NIT Jamshedpur, shared their perspectives.
Inauguration ceremony, chief guest Probal Ghosh, Vice-President at Tata Steel, also addressed the gathering. Prof. Sanjay, HoD and Organizing Chairman, expressed gratitude to the institute Director Dr Goutam Sutradhar for his support and encouragement in the vote of thanks.
The conference brought together global experts, academicians, and industry leaders to discuss advancements and challenges in mechanical and industrial engineering.
The three-day conference featured keynote addresses from renowned speakers, providing a comprehensive perspective on pressing industrial topics.
The first keynote lecture was delivered by Prof. Chitranjan Sahay from the University of Hartford, USA, on “Designing for Harsh Environments”.
His insights into the innovative strategies for product design in extreme conditions captivated the audience, setting the tone for the event.
Another notable address came from Rakesh Bhargava, an expert from Innovative Turbomachinery Technologies, Katy, TX, USA.
He presented on the “Evolution of Gas Turbine Technology and its Impact on the Global Power Generation and Aviation Industry”, providing a historical perspective and future outlook on this pivotal technology.
The final day featured a thought-provoking lecture by N. Rajesh Kumar, Chief of One Shared Services Technology Group, Tata Steel, Jamshedpur, on “Current Challenges in Industries”.
In all 71 research papers were presented through 12 parallel technical sessions on topics ranging from advanced materials to innovative manufacturing solutions provided ample opportunities for knowledge sharing.
