UditVani, Jamshedpur : For Dr Vivek Kedia, a city- based opthalmologist , serving eye patients at the ongoing Mahakumbh in UP’s Prayagraj was an wonderful experience and will cherish for a long time.
Dr Kedia who runs a eye hospital at Adityapur got two days opportunity to serve eye patients at Netra Mahakumbh organised at Sector VI of the ongoing Mahakumbh- 2025 at Prayagraj.
” I got an opportunity to serve a large number of eye patients working with senior doctors of several reputed eye hospitals like Shankar Netralaya and Chitrakoot Eye Hospital. It was altogether a different experience serving such a large number of eye patients , ” said Dr Vivek Kedia who returned to the city after attending patients at Netra Kumbh.
The Netra Mahakumbh is organised by Swami Vivekananda Health Mission, a charitable trust in association with Saksham, a NGO.
The Netra Mahakumbh offers free eye checkups, surgeries, medicines, spectacles and spreading awareness about eye health and eye donation.
It is a remarkable initiative for the devotees attending the grand Mahakumbh in Prayagraj.
The Netra Mahakumbh has set a target to cater to around 5 lakh devotees with eye related ailments.
It has also set a target to distribute around 2.5 lakh free spectacles to the patients.
According to a rough estimate around 6000 patients are daily attending the Netra Mahakumbh with daily deployment of around 40 doctors and over 100 optometrists.
Eye specialists and ophthalmologist from various states have been rendering their free service at the Netra Mahakumbh ever since it began.
Retired ( Army ) Col. Dr. Praveen Reddy has been appointed as the Chief Medical Officer ( CMO) for overseeing the day- to -day activities of Netra Mahakumbh.
The Netra Mahakumbh began on January 13 and will continue till February 26.
