SPORTS: Competition schedule for Asian Winter Games released

UditVani, New Delhi: The official competition schedule of the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin City of China has been released by the event’s organizing committee.

The Asian Winter Games will take place from February 7 to 14, 2025, in Harbin, also knows as the ‘Ice City’, is famous for its unique ice and snow landscape.

As per the schedule (version 3.0), the ice hockey and curling events will commence ahead of the other competitions due to the high number of participating countries and regions.

The ice hockey competitions are set to commence on February 3, followed by the curling events on February 4.

More than 1500 athletes from 34 countries and regions have registered to participate in the Winter Games.

Over 12 days of competition, athletes from across Asia will participate in six major events, 11 sub-events, and 64 disciplines.

In Harbin, 31% of the events will debut at the Asian Winter Games. Notably, three ski mountaineering events, newly added to the 2026 Winter Olympics, will be featured, making the Harbin Games a vital platform for athletes gearing up for the Olympics.

 
Slogan, Mascots, Emblem
The official slogan for the 2025 Asian Winter Games is “Dream of Winter, Love among Asia”. The Asian Winter Games feature the charming tiger mascots, “Binbin” and “Nini,” along with an official emblem that blends a short track speed skater, a lilac flower, and flowing ribbons.

The Asian Winter Games return after an eight-year hiatus, as the 2021 edition was canceled due to the pandemic. The last time these prestigious games were held was in 2017 in Sapporo, Japan.

As the Asian Winter Games is approaching, the influx of tourists to Heilongjiang Province is on the rise, with popular destinations like Yabuli and Snow Village entering their peak tourism season.
