UditVani, Jamshedpur : A pall of gloom descended on Birsanagar Zone No. 1 on Friday evening after a 16-year-old girl, Simran Munda, was found dead at her home. Simran, a Class IX student, is believed to have taken her own life by hanging.
At the time of the incident, her mother, who works at a mall near Sunday Market in Telco, was away at work. The heartbreaking scene was discovered by Simran’s younger brother when he returned from school and found her hanging from the ceiling fan.
He immediately informed neighbours, who alerted the police.
Police personnel arrived promptly and, with the help of locals, rushed Simran to MGM Hospital.
However, doctors declared her brought dead. The body has been sent for postmortem, which will be conducted on Saturday before being handed over to the family.
Authorities said the cause of the suicide is yet to be determined. Preliminary inquiries with family members have begun, and the police have assured that the postmortem report will help establish the facts.
The investigating officer stated that the matter is being probed from all possible angles, and the family is being extended every possible support in this time of grief.
