UditVani, Jamshedpur: Tragedy struck at Jemco under Telco police station area this morning when a father- daughter duo came under the wheels of a speeding mini-truck and died on the spot.
The teenage son of the deceased father was injured in the mishap.
Three of them were riding on a scooty when the speeding vehicle hit them near the Jemco roundabout.
The 42-year-old Krishna Kumar Sharma and his 18-year-old daughter Anjali Kumari succumbed to their injuries at the spot.
In the mishap, 17-year-old Vicky Kumar son of Krishna Kumar Sharma sustained multiple injuries.
He was rushed to the MGM Medical College and Hospital in Sakchi by police, where he was undergoing treatment.
A resident of Janata Path at Barigora locality in Parsudih, Krishna Kumar on his scooty went to drop his daughter at the Tatanagar railway station for catching the Kriyayog Express. Vicky Kumar also accompanied them.
Anjali was to supposed to travel by that train to Ranchi where she was scheduled to appear for a competitive examination later in the day today.
On failing to reach the station on time, Anjali missed the train and subsequently, she was returning home along with her father and brother where they met the unfortunate fate.
The heavy vehicle fled leaving the trio at the mishap spot. When a patrolling party arrived at the spot, the police rushed all three to the government medical college hospital where the doctor on emergency duty declared Krishna Kumar and Anjali as brought dead.
Vicky Kumar who is a student of Class IX was admitted to the hospital . He had sustained multiple injuries on his legs.
Krishna Kumar was an employee of Jojobera- based Nuvoco Vistas, a cement company in adjoining Govindpur.
A pall of gloom descended in Barigora locality as the news of the father-daughter’s tragic death spread in the area.
The local residents demanded immediate arrest of the driver of the erring vehicle.
