UditVani, Jamshedpur: The city police have unraveled the high-profile Bistupur loot case, arresting three persons, including the alleged mastermind, in connection with the Rs 30 lakh robbery from businessman Saket Agiwal.
Investigations revealed that the prime conspirator, a youth from Sakchi, had kept Agiwal under surveillance for several days before orchestrating the crime. On September 4, the gang intercepted the businessman near Bistupur Gurudwara. Using chilli powder to blind him, they made off with the cash in an Innova and a scooter.
Police traced one accused to Seraikela and recovered the white Innova used in the operation. The arrested youth confessed to arranging hideouts and logistics for the robbers. With his arrest, two more accomplices were also caught, all of whom admitted to their role in the heist. A country-made pistol and ammunition were seized from their possession.
Authorities have also detained two women for interrogation, suspecting they may have provided vital assistance or information to the gang. Their involvement is being closely scrutinized.
Senior police officials described the arrests as a significant breakthrough, stressing that strict action against organized crime will continue. Citizens have been urged to promptly share any suspicious activity with the police to help maintain public safety.
The incident had triggered outrage among the business community and residents. Police confirmed that further raids are underway to nab the remaining culprits, including the chief planner, and ensure the entire network is dismantled.
