
UditVani, Jamshedpur : Tata Steel’s mining operations have once again set industry benchmarks in sustainable and responsible mining.
The Noamundi Iron Mine, Joda East Iron Mine, and Khondbond Iron and Manganese Mine have been honoured with the prestigious Star Rating Awards by the Ministry of Mines, Government of India, in a felicitation ceremony held at the Rajasthan International Centre in Jaipur.
The Noamundi Iron Mine in Jharkhand made history by receiving the coveted 7-Star Rating Award, becoming one of only three mines in the country to receive this distinction since the awards began in 2016.
This recognition marks an extraordinary milestone, celebrating unparalleled commitment to scientific, safe, and sustainable mining.
In addition to this, Tata Steel’s Joda East Iron Mine secured the 5-Star Rating Award for the fourth time, reaffirming its consistent performance. The Khondbond Iron and Manganese Mine achieved its first-ever 5-Star Rating, highlighting its rapid strides in adopting best-in-class mining practices.
The Star Rating Awards evaluate mines based on a comprehensive set of parameters including operational excellence, environmental conservation, worker safety, community development, and sustainability.
The awards were presented in the august presence of G Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of Coal and Mines; Bhajan Lal Sharma, Chief Minister of Rajasthan; and Satish Chandra Dubey, Minister of State for Coal and Mines.
Representatives from Tata Steel who received the awards included Atul Kumar Bhatnagar and D Vijayendra for Noamundi Mine; Rajesh Kumar for Joda East Mine; and G V Satyanarayana and Awnish Kumar for Khondbond Mine.
Speaking on the occasion, Sandeep Kumar, Vice President, Raw Materials, Tata Steel, said:
