UditVani, Jamshedpur: The CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML) wrapped up its four-day Corporate Training program, MCBA-2024 (Mineral Characterization, Beneficiation, and Agglomeration), today. Attended by executives from various plants of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), the program was a blend of learning, collaboration, and innovation aimed at enhancing expertise in mineral processing.
Learning and Gratitude: Executive Feedback
Before the closing ceremony, a feedback session was held where SAIL executives shared their experiences. They unanimously appreciated the cutting-edge research and development at NML, expressing gratitude to both SAIL Management and NML for organizing the program.
“Through this training, we gained a closer understanding of advanced techniques like spiral, flotation, magnetic separation, fluidization, and pelletization. These learnings will significantly aid us in our daily operations,” remarked one participant.
Highlighting Practical Benefits
Bibhuti Narayan Singh, Deputy General Manager of Bolani Mines, emphasized the practical impact of the training. “The methods we learned for utilizing low-grade iron ore are not only innovative but will also prove to be highly effective in improving our work processes,” he stated.
The collaboration between SAIL and NML was spotlighted as a key takeaway, with participants anticipating further partnerships to enhance production quality and research in the metallurgical field.
Structured Learning Over Four Days
Program co-convenor Abhishek Kumar outlined the training schedule, which was structured into two intensive sessions daily from December 3 to December 6. The sessions combined theoretical knowledge with practical applications, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the subject matter.
Certificates of Achievement
The program concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, presided over by NML Director Sandip Ghosh Chowdhury. Addressing the participants, he said, “I hope the knowledge gained during this training will prove invaluable in advancing mineral processing techniques across your organizations.”

Devabrata Mishra, Head of the Department of Mineral Processing, expressed gratitude to the participants and highlighted the importance of their feedback. “Your insights will enable us to design even more impactful programs in the future,” he said, reaffirming NML’s commitment to excellence in training and research.
