UditVani, Jamshedpur: The 2nd Late Sitaram Rungta Chess League will take place on December 27, commemorating the birth anniversary of the visionary Sitaram Rungta. The prestigious tournament will be hosted at Rungta Garden, Chaibasa, under the aegis of Rungta Mines Limited in collaboration with the West Singhbhum District Chess Association.
A Unique Format with Top Teams
Six prominent teams are set to compete in this league:
- Rungta Steel
- DPS Group of Education
- Griha Lakshmi Sales and Marketing
- West Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industries
- Beyond Temptation
- Mundra Hospital
Each team will field six players, with five active participants and one reserve. The competition will consist of 10 rounds, featuring a mix of five rapid and five blitz games, promising a fast-paced and thrilling experience.
District’s Elite Players in Action
A total of 36 players from West Singhbhum have been selected, including 28 internationally rated players. The selection of players for each team will be determined through a lottery system, scheduled for December 15 at the Sitaram Rungta Recreation Hall, Town Club.
Ensuring Fair Play
To uphold the integrity of the tournament, international arbiter Vishal Kumar Minz and FIDE arbiter Vikram Kumar will officiate as the primary judges. Their presence underscores the competitive and professional nature of the event.

General Secretary of the District Chess Association, Basant Khandelwal, emphasized that the tournament not only aims to promote the game of chess but also celebrates the enduring legacy of Sitaram Rungta, a stalwart of the region.
