UditVani, Jamshedpur : Following the directives of Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi, a district-level tree plantation committee meeting was convened at the Collectorate Auditorium.
The meeting, chaired by Deputy Development Commissioner Aniket Sachan, focused on the effective implementation of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0’ campaign across the district.
Sachan emphasized that the campaign is a vital initiative toward environmental conservation.
He highlighted its unique objective of expressing gratitude to Mother Earth and celebrating motherhood by transforming tree plantation into a mass movement. He appealed to everyone not only to plant trees but also to take full responsibility for their care until they mature.
The campaign is designed to follow a ‘Whole of Government’ and ‘Whole of Society’ approach with multi-departmental collaboration, placing special emphasis on the role of schools.
From June 5 to September 30, government, aided, and private schools in East Singhbhum will conduct plantation drives through Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE.
Under the campaign, primary schools will plant a minimum of 70 saplings, middle schools 100, and high schools 150. Plantations will be carried out within school premises or at nearby public places such as roadsides and community spaces. Coordination has been established with the Forest Department, Horticulture Department, and urban local bodies for sapling supply.
All campaign activities will be documented on the MeriLiFE portal (https://merilife.nic.in). Additionally, the use of digital and social media has been mandated to maximize outreach and community participation.
The meeting was attended by District Education Officer Manoj Kumar, officials from urban local bodies, principals of government schools from urban areas, and other concerned stakeholders.
