UditVani, Jamshepdpur: The CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (CSIR-NML), Jamshedpur has organised a five days Corporate training Programme between 9 and 13th May 2022 on ‘Exposure Training on Metallic Pipes’. On the inaugural day today ten delegates from different Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology centres like Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Bengaluru, Ranchi, Korba, Guwahati, Balasore, Baddi, Aurangabad and Lucknow attended the programme. The main objective of the event is to provide an exposure on various metallic pipe components, which are frequently inspected / examined/ evaluated by different Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET) centres for specific purposes.
The training schedule includes structural characterization, evaluation of various mechanical properties, non-destructive testing, manufacturing methodology and allied limitations for pipe materials, outline of different inspection procedure as per standardsand highlights of in-service material degradation. The proceeding of each day consists of lectures on relevant areas by eminent scientists, acclimatization to the experimental practices using various instrumental techniques, handling of data and correlating the outcome with the standards / quality judgement of component material.
In his opening remarks Dr. Arvind Sinha, Chief Scientist and Advisor management,CSIR-NML, emphasised on the impact of such type of training programmes considering the close interaction with each other as well as opening up future spectrum of joint collaboration. Moreover, he mentioned that CSIR-NML is actively involved in such activities and ready to support problem solving challenges in metallurgical domain through collaboration. The inaugural function was ended with a short speech from Head, KRIT division by highlighting over all theme and essence of such initiative by CSIR, which becomes at par with various mission mode programme of Government of India.
