The ceremony brought together students, parents, faculty members, administrators and staff, reflecting the institute’s long-standing Jesuits tradition of nurturing leaders grounded in excellence, ethics and social responsibility.

The event served as an introduction to XLRI’s culture of academic rigor, inclusivity and values-based leadership.

The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolising the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom.

Readings from the Bhagavad Gita, the Bible, the Guru Granth Sahib and the Holy Quran highlighted the institution’s commitment to diversity, interfaith harmony and mutual respect.

Special prayers were offered for wisdom, ethical leadership, academic excellence and the well-being of the XLRI community.

A total of 441 students have joined XLRI across its Business Management (BM), Human Resource Management (HRM), Logistics and Supply Chain Management (LSCM), Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) and BM International Specialization programmes.

The cohort represents a diverse mix of academic disciplines, professional experiences and cultural backgrounds from across India and abroad.

As part of the induction ceremony, the students took the XLRI Honour Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to integrity, academic honesty, inclusivity, respect for diversity and responsible leadership.

Addressing the gathering, XLRI Director Dr. (Fr.) Sebastian George, SJ, encouraged students to approach their academic journey with curiosity, empathy and a collaborative spirit.

He stressed that meaningful leadership is built on trust, cooperation and a commitment to the common good, urging the new entrants to uphold the institution’s legacy of excellence while contributing positively to society.

Dean Academics Sanjay Patro described the occasion as the beginning of a significant journey marked by aspirations and opportunities.

He encouraged students to embrace the Jesuit ideal of “magis” — the pursuit of greater excellence through service and continuous self-improvement.

The induction programme will continue with a series of interactions involving faculty members, administrators, alumni and peers, providing students with deeper insights into XLRI’s academic ecosystem and leadership philosophy.

The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem, followed by interactions among students, parents and members of the XLRI community, setting the stage for an enriching and transformative learning experience ahead.
