The trials for Phase 2 will continue tomorrow at the Tata Football Academy grounds, offering more players an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities.

Jharkhand, with 280 shortlisted candidates, boasts the second-highest number of applicants for this year’s trials, reflecting the state’s strong football culture. The participants aim to secure a spot in TFA’s prestigious youth programme, which has a rich legacy of developing future stars of Indian football.

The trials, spanning 12 days from 19th to 30th November, have attracted 1,095 participants from 26 states and union territories.

Players from Kerala, Gujarat, Manipur, Himachal Pradesh, and other states are scheduled for upcoming phases, with the final election rounds set for November 29 and 30, 2024.

Hyderabad FC ने अपने पिछले पांच मैचों में केवल दो मौकों पर जीत हासिल की है। इनमें से उसकी दूसरी जीत इस हफ्ते की शुरुआत में एटीके मोहन बागान के खिलाफ पिछले मैच में आई थी। हेड कोच मैनोलो मार्कुएज के मौजूदा चैम्पियन मैच में अंक गंवाने के कगार पर थे लेकिन स्थानापन्न खिलाड़ी के रूप में उतरे बार्थोलोम्यू ओग्बेचे ने विजयी गोल करके अपनी टीम को पूरे तीन अंक दिलाए।

Petar Sliskovic broke the deadlock in the first half before Ishan Pandita equalised in the final quarter. Substitutes Vincy Baretto and Abdenasser El Khayati struck late for the Marina Machans as Jamshedpur notched up three consecutive losses for the first time since the 2020-21 season.

Both sides made four changes to their respective lineups. Anirudh Thapa, Rahim Ali and Jiteshwor Singh dropped out of the squad for the hosts, while El Khayati dropped to the bench.

Vafa Hakhamaneshi returned in the heart of defence as Jockson Dhas, Sajal Bag, and Sourav Das were given their first starts. Daniel Chukwu, Laldinpuia Pachuau, and Laldinliana Renthlei were all out injured for Jamshedpur, while Harry Sawyer dropped to the bench. Farukh Choudhary,

Wellington Priori, Muhammed Uvais, and Pandita were all drafted into the starting lineup. The injury-riddled Red Miners were dealt another injury blow in the 16th minute when Priori was stretchered off.

To make things worse, Jamshedpur went behind in the 27th minute. Julius Duker played a through ball to Dhas, who galloped forward in acres of space before getting his shot away. The midfielder’s attempt was parried by the keeper straight to Sliskovic, who stayed alert and headed the ball home from close range.

The game burst into life in the final quarter of the match. In the 76th minute, Sawyer flicked the ball on with his head towards the box as Pandita met it with a well-struck volley to level the score. The lead did not last long as Chennaiyin substitutes – El Khayati and Baretto – combined in the very next minute to put the Marina Machans ahead again.

El Khayati whipped in a cross from the left flank and Baretto took it on the volley with his first touch of the match. There was enough time for El Khayati to bag a goal for himself – the Dutch midfielder sold a dummy to Peter Hartley before slotting the ball in at the near post five minutes from time to wrap up the win.

Chennaiyin FC’s first home win of the campaign sees them move from seventh to fifth with 10 points on the board. They will travel to Odisha for their next game on November 24, Thursday.
Jamshedpur FC have now lost three games in a row and are 9th. They return home for their next game against East Bengal FC on November 27, Sunday.

Torrential rain delayed kick-off but didn’t dampen Jamshedpur FC’s spirits as they got their noses in front after just three minutes. Ricky Lallawmawma’s low cross from the left flank was blocked by Thoiba Singh but the rebound fell to Daniel Chukwu before the Nigerian smashed the ball into the net with his left foot.

In the tenth minute, The Red Miners established a two-goal cushion. Yet again, it was Lallawmawma playing a low cross from the left flank. This time it was Boris Singh who managed to get on the end of it for a tap-in at the far post.

The Juggernauts reduced the deficit seven minutes later. Raynier Fernandes rolled the ball towards Diego Mauricio near the edge of the box. The Brazilian was given too much space before he curled and tucked his effort inside the far post.

Farukh Choudhary sprinted down the left flank and his cross found its way to Wellington Priori. The Brazilian’s shot was brilliantly blocked by Amrinder Singh. At the other end, minutes later, Jerry Mawihmingthanga snuck inside the box from the right flank, took the ball on his left foot and was inches away from curling the ball into the top-left corner.

In the 67th minute, Pedro Martin found himself in a one-on-one situation with TP Rehenesh as the JFC defence searched for an offside flag. The Spanish substitute saw his effort saved brilliantly by the Jamshedpur FC shot-stopper.

The match was then tied with two minutes in regulation time to go. Odisha FC substitutes Isak Vanlalruatfela and Isaac Chhakchhuak combined brilliantly on the right flank. Vanlalruatfela pulled it back for Chhakchhuak, who smashed the ball into the back of the net.

The comeback was complete in second-half stoppage time. Vanlalruatfela was involved in the move again as the 21-year-old picked out Mauricio with an inch-perfect ball before the striker fired in his second of the night and the winning goal for Odisha FC.

The Juggernauts and The Red Miners will both travel to the West coast on different dates to face Mumbai City FC in their next respective fixtures. The Islanders host Odisha FC on 15th October, Saturday, and will welcome Jamshedpur FC on 22nd October, Saturday.

Last year, Jamshedpur FC had a phenomenal season, finishing top of the table with 43 points after the league stage. They were however, knocked out in the semifinals by Kerala Blasters FC. Jamshedpur were consistent across the season. Only Hyderabad FC scored more league goals than Jamshedpur’s 42 and no team conceded fewer than their tally of 21.

Odisha FC, on the other hand, finished last season in 7th place with 23 points. Odisha FC will be boosted by the return of Diego Mauricio from Mumbai City FC. The Brazilian scored 12 goals for Odisha FC in the 2020-2021 season, ending that campaign as third highest goal scorer in the league.

He won’t be the only one making a return to Odisha FC. Spaniard Josep Gombau, who was their for 2019-2020 season will be at the helm again. He led the team to sixth place that season, their highest league finish so far in the ISL. Gombau spent two years as manager of Queensboro FC in New York City between the two stints.

Gombau acknowledged Jamshedpur FC’s credentials in his pre-match press conference but was quick to remind everyone that this is a new season.

“For us, it is a challenge to play here tomorrow. We know that we’re playing against a very good side, a very good team, last season’s ISL league winners, but tomorrow [is] a new competition,” he said.
Jamshedpur FC have retained the services of Daniel Chima Chukwu. The Nigerian made a switch from East Bengal FC in last season’s transfer window and helped Jamshedpur FC clinch the Hero ISL League Winner’s Shield by scoring seven goals. No one has scored more goals for Jamshedpur FC since he joined the club.

Jamshedpur FC have also lost two important figures in Owen Coyle, their Head Coach from last season, and Greg Stewart, their top scorer. Coyle agreed to become the manager of Queen’s Park in the Scottish Championship, while Stewart left for Mumbai City FC. Stewart didn’t just end the season as the club’s top scorer with 10 goals – he was also the league leader in assists with 10 of them, and was a recipient of the ISL Hero of the League award.

Replacing Owen Coyle is Aidy Boothroyd, who revealed that he has settled in nicely and that the team had enjoyed a great pre-season.

“It’s been brilliant, considering I didn’t really know any of the staff or any of the players coming into the game. We’ve had a really good pre-season – touchwood, injury free. Everybody is happy and just looking forward to the game, really,” he said.

In the six games previously contested between the two sides, Jamshedpur FC have come out on top fourtimes, Odisha have won once, and one match ended in a draw. Jamshedpur FC have won the two previous meetings between the sides. The match promises to be a highly engaging affair.
