UditVani, Jamshedpur : Dhalbhum SDO Shatabdi Majumdar today carried out raids in tobacco shops in and around the Graduate College, The Tagore Academy and the collectorate building in Sakchi.
Tobacco products were seized from shops on the spot and fines were imposed.
A seizure list will be made of the seized tobacco products and they will be destroyed.
On the complaint of adulteration in some tea shops, tea samples were collected which will be sent to the State Food Testing Laboratory, Namkum for testing.
Executive magistrate Chandrajit Singh and Food Safety Officer Manjar Hussain were included in the team that carried out the raid.
Sub-divisional officer Majumdar said that selling tobacco products is prohibited in the areas around schools and colleges.
If tobacco products are found in shops during investigation, legal action will be taken.
She said that investigation into tobacco products being sold illegally in shops will continue.
