Jamshedpur : Tigress Zeenat, which had escaped from Simlipal Tiger Reserve in Odisha, was finally caught in Bengal on Sunday
The tigress, which had strayed from the Simlipal Tiger Reserve Park in Odisha some three weeks back , was sedated and caged in the forest cover of Gosaindihi village near the Mukutmanipur Dam in West Bengal ‘s Bankura district by a joint team of the forest department on Sunday evening.
The tigress had entered West Bengal from Chakulia ( East Singhbhum, Jharkhand ) last week after playing hide and seek in the forest area for about 15 days.
With the capture of the tigress, the Odisha forest department and the villagers of Bengal and Jharkhand heaved a sigh of relief.
According to information, the tigress had recently entered Jharkhand after leaving Simlipal Tiger Reserve in Odisha.
This tigress was first seen in Ghurabandha forest in East Singhbhum. The tigress had taken shelter in the Potas forest of Rajabasa, Mourabeda, Chiyabandhi of Chakulia forest area for the past several days.
After which, on the night of December 20, the tigress came out of Morbeda forest and entered Katuchua forest of Belpahadi forest area via the forest of Ghaghra village of Matiabandhi Panchayat via Amabhula.
The team of Odisha forest department and wildlife was tracking and kept on following the tigress.
Finally on Sunday evening the team got success in capturing the tigress.
