UditVani, Ranchi / Jamshedpur : With the increase in chill and complete onset of winter in Jharkhand , the air pollution has witnessed a rise.
Fireworks of the ongoing wedding season has added to the woes.
Apart from this, the increasing number of vehicles is also contributing to rise in air pollution and poor ambient air quality.
The ambient air quality is poor especially in cities like Jamshedpur and Dhanbad.
Talking about the last 24 hours, Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 79 in Ranchi, 171 in Jamshedpur and 167 in Dhanbad which is above normal and unfit for breathing.
Know what is the standard:
AQI values of 100 or less are generally considered satisfactory. When the AQI value is above 100, the surrounding air becomes deadly. Whereas when it is above 200, there is difficulty in breathing.
This level of pollution keeps increasing and decreasing. According to officials of Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board Environment Department, the air quality remains during winter season.
Keep these things in mind while leaving the house
1. Wear a mask – Especially when you are driving or in traffic, wearing a mask protects from pollution and bacteria.
2. Keep the windows of the house closed – For avoiding outside pollution and dust, keep the windows of the house mostly closed.
3. Use air purifier – Installing an air purifier is beneficial to maintain the quality of air inside the house.
4. Do not send children to play in dirty or dusty places – this can be harmful to their health, especially if there is pollution in the air around them.
