Uditvani, Jamshedpur : Tony Singh, a notorious member of the Amarnath gang and accused in several cases, was shot dead past mid-night at the Dimna Road under Ulidih police station area in Mango.
He was shot on his head. The incident took place around 1 am.
People present at the spot immediately took him to Brahmananda Narayana Multispeciality Hospital at Tamolia , where doctors declared him brought dead.
Incident details
Tony Singh was standing with his partner Rajeev and others near Uma Tiffin located on the Dimna Road. A black Scorpio stopped there and recce was done. After some time, six youths riding on three bikes came and fired indiscriminately at Tony. The bullet hit Tony on the head, killing him on the spot.
Identification of attackers
Eyewitnesses have named Avinash among the attackers, who is a member of the Ganesh Singh gang. Police suspect that the attack was an outcome of a gang war.
Old disputes and threat cases
According to sources, recently Tony Singh had a dispute in Gaur Basti, in which he threatened a BJP worker. Apart from this, Tony was also accused of threatening a businessman engaged in real estate. Just a few days ago, the police had arrested him with illegal weapons and sent him to jail.
Political connections
Tony Singh was currently actively working for Congress. Police is investigating from this angle also.
Another injured in the incident
A youth named Vishnu alias Bunty has also been injured in this firing. He has been referred to TMH from MGM Hospital, where his condition is said to be critical.
Police initiates investigation
The footage of CCTV cameras installed around the incident site is being scrutinized. Police said that this incident could be the result of gang war. Search is on for Avinash and his associates.
