
UditVani, Jamshedpur: Polling for the Ghatshila Assembly by-election is witnessing a sharp rise in voter participation, with 54.08% turnout registered by 1 PM, according to the latest update from the District Election Officer’s Media Cell.
Voting, which began at 7 AM, picked up pace late morning as long queues were reported outside several polling stations.
The district administration confirmed that polling is progressing peacefully across the constituency.
To maintain strict oversight and ensure transparent polling, 300 booths have been placed under live webcasting surveillance, enabling real-time monitoring from the district control room.
Senior officials are keeping constant watch on sensitive and critical booths, while rapid response teams remain on standby to address any complaints or disruptions.
Security forces, including local police and paramilitary units, have been deployed strategically to maintain law and order.

Special arrangements have been made for elderly voters and persons with disabilities, including wheelchairs, volunteers, and priority access.
Election officials said the voter response so far indicates strong public engagement in the by-election.
Polling will continue till the scheduled closing time, and the administration has urged remaining voters to step out and cast their vote peacefully.
