
UditVani, Jamshedpur : The CISCE Yoga Zonal Meet dedicated to promoting yoga, discipline, and holistic well-being, was inaugurated at Loyola School, Telco, today.
This two-day event provides a vibrant platform for students to demonstrate their physical and mental balance through various yoga asana competitions.
This year, the meet has drawn participation from around 250 students representing 20 schools across Jamshedpur.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of Fr. Vinod Fernandes, Principal of Loyola School, as the chief guest, and Fr. Michael Thanaraj as the guest of honour.
Also present were Fr. Jerry D’Souza, administrator and treasurer of the school, and principal Charanjit Ohson.

Representing the yoga community were Maloy Kumar De, secretary of East Singhbhum District Yogasana Sports Association and joint secretary of the Jharkhand State Association, along with Pragyana Parmita Chakravarty, joint secretary of the District Association and a national-level judge.
Other dignitaries and guests were warmly welcomed.
The auspicious lamp-lighting ceremony was carried out jointly by Fr. Michael Thanaraj, Fr. Vinod Fernandes, Fr. Jerry D’Souza, Charanjit Ohson, and Maloy Kumar De.

This was followed by a serene prayer song performed by the school’s junior choir, creating an atmosphere of peace and reverence.
A highlight of the inaugural event was a captivating cultural presentation by the students of Loyola School, combining yoga and classical dance to beautifully depict discipline, emotional expression, balance, and spiritual growth.
Addressing the gathering, Fr. Vinod Fernandes shared the inspiring story of 75-year-old yoga practitioner Jayashree, emphasizing how yoga can bring discipline, energy, and transformation into one’s life.

He urged the youth to make yoga an integral part of their daily routine.
Principal Charanjit Ohson formally declared the meet open, stating that the event is not just about competition but a celebration of health, awareness, and sportsmanship.

The two-day CISCE Yoga Zonal Meet, being held on June 25 and 26, is a celebration of flexibility, strength, unity, mindfulness, and inner peace — the core values of yoga.
