
UditVani, Jamshedpur: Tension prevailed in the Burmamines area of Jamshedpur following the sudden death of a worker, triggering protests by grieving family members and local residents who demanded adequate compensation and support.
The deceased, identified as Satyanarayan Nishad, was a local resident who had reportedly been working under a a contractual firm under Tata Steel for nearly a decade.
According to available information, Nishad’s health suddenly deteriorated shortly after he completed his duty and was heading home.
Eyewitnesses said that he felt dizzy and collapsed near the gate of the workplace.
Co-workers immediately rushed to his aid and took him to Tata Main Hospital (TMH) for emergency treatment.
However, doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead after examination, leaving his family and colleagues in shock.
The tragic incident soon sparked outrage among the bereaved family members and locals, who gathered at the site and staged a protest, demanding fair compensation and financial assistance for the deceased’s family.
The protesters argued that Nishad had been associated with the company for many years and deserved proper recognition and support, even if he was employed through a contractor.
Family members alleged negligence and insisted that the management must take responsibility, ensuring that the family is not left without financial security.
“He dedicated years of his life working there. The company must stand by us in this difficult time,” a relative said during the protest.
The situation remained tense for some time as agitated protesters raised slogans and pressed for immediate assurances.
Local authorities and representatives of the management reportedly initiated talks with the family in an attempt to defuse the situation and reach an amicable solution.
