
UditVani, Jamshedpur : Tata Steel Jamshedpur is set to host the 65th Operating Committee Meeting (OCM) of Blast Furnaces and Sinter Plants at the Shavak Nanavati Technical Institute (SNTI), Jamshedpur, from December 10-11, 2025.
This annual technical forum will bring together expert representatives from India’s leading steel producers to foster collaboration, drive innovation, exchange best practices, and explore pathways for a more sustainable and efficient future in ironmaking.
The event will be hosted, on behalf of Tata Steel, by Surajit Sinha, Chairman – 65th OCM, and will be inaugurated by Sandip Kar, Executive Director, RDCIS, SAIL – Guest of Honour, and Chaitanya Bhanu, Vice President Operations, Tata Steel Jamshedpur as Chief Guests.
Over the two-day conference, specialists from prominent steel companies-including SAIL, Tata Steel, JSW, Jindal Steel, and Jayaswal Neco—will participate in technical deliberations focused on two pivotal themes:
Reduction of Solid Fuel Consumption in Sinter, and Failure Analysis and Life Enhancement of Blast Furnace Cooling.
These discussions aim to strengthen industry-wide knowledge sharing and reinforce the collective commitment of India’s steel sector toward operational excellence, resource optimization, and long-term sustainability.
Earlier today, a press conference was organized at SNTI, where key officials from Tata Steel addressed the media and shared insights on the objectives and significance of the 65th OCM. The press conference was chaired by, G.S.R. Murthy, Chief – Blast Furnace, Pradeep Chaudhary, Chief – Sinter Plant, Vipul M. Koranne, Head – Agglomeration Technology, Kamma Ramakrishna Rao, Head – Operations, Blast Furnace and Arunkumar C., Principal Technologist from Tata Steel.
Their briefing highlighted the company’s continued emphasis on innovation, safety, operational efficiency, and technology-driven improvements across Blast Furnace and Sinter Plant operations.
