UditVani, Jamshedpur : A sudden spell of strong winds accompanied by heavy rain on Monday evening created widespread disruption in Mango.
The storm, which struck around 7 pm and lasted for nearly 40 minutes, caused damage at several locations and led to prolonged power outages across the locality.
According to reports, the strong winds affected the electricity supply after a fault developed in the 33 KV power line, leaving the entire area without power until around midnight.
Power department teams later rushed to the spot and began repair work to restore the supply.
The impact of the storm was particularly severe in the Turiabera area, where a wedding function was underway.
The tent and decorative arrangements at the venue were damaged after being hit by strong gusts of wind, creating panic and inconvenience among guests attending the ceremony.
Similar scenes were reported from other parts of Mango where multiple wedding functions were taking place.
The sudden storm and rain triggered chaos at several venues as people scrambled for shelter.
In some areas, light hailstorm was also reported during the rainfall, briefly creating a sense of alarm among residents.
Although the rain subsided around 8 pm, bringing partial relief from the day-long humid heat, fallen branches and damaged power lines caused electricity disruptions in several parts of the area for hours.
Local residents said the strong winds snapped tree branches at multiple places, affecting power infrastructure and leading to delayed restoration of electricity in the affected localities.
