
UditVani, Kolkata : South Eastern Railway (SER) organized a special media tour at Shalimar Railway Station today, October 22 to highlight the comprehensive measures and passenger-friendly initiatives implemented to ensure smooth travel during the ongoing festive season.
The tour provided a detailed overview of key facilities, including holding areas, upgraded waiting halls, assistance booths, ticket counters, and enhanced crowd management systems. Special emphasis has been placed on cleanliness, punctuality, and passenger safety.
Extra security personnel have been deployed, and dedicated help desks have been established to assist travelers with queries and guidance.
SER is committed to providing a safe, comfortable, and convenient travel experience for all passengers during this high-traffic period.
Media representatives appreciated the proactive steps taken by railway authorities, including the focus on amenities and passenger support.
Across India, railways are running more than 12,000 special trains this year, compared to 7,724 special trains during last year’s festive season covering Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath.
Within the SER jurisdiction, 922 special trains have been operated until October 20, up from 832 runs last year.
War rooms are functional at the SER Headquarters and all four divisional headquarters, monitoring operations through live feeds and promptly addressing passenger complaints and grievances.
Currently, SER is operating six regular special trains and 11 additional festival special trains, alongside 16 specials run by other zonal railways passing through SER territory.
