UditVani, Jamshedpur : A helmet is often seen as an inconvenience, but on Saturday evening at the Kudy Mahanty Auditorium, it became a powerful symbol of responsibility and survival. As part of Road Safety Month, the talk show “Beyond the Visor: An Evening of Purpose” brought together students from across the city for a discussion that went far beyond traffic rules.

The programme was organised by Tata Steel in collaboration with CII Young Indians, Jamshedpur, under the initiative of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). Five students from each school were invited to attend the event as Safety Ambassadors. Members of the SAFE Club from J.H. Tarapore School participated in the session along with their club teacher.
The most impactful voice of the evening was that of Mr. Raghvendra Kumar, internationally recognised as the “Helmet Man of India.” Having distributed over 60,000 helmets across more than 22 states, he shared powerful real-life stories highlighting how a single decision -wearing a helmet -can make the difference between life and death. His mission has earned national recognition, including appreciation from Shri Nitin Gadkari, and has also been featured on *Kaun Banega Crorepati* by Shri Amitabh Bachchan.
Through visuals, personal experiences, and engaging interaction with students, Mr. Kumar urged young minds to view road safety not merely as a rule to follow, but as a responsibility to uphold. The programme concluded with a clear call to action -encouraging students to look beyond the visor and become advocates for safer roads.
