Two individuals were arrested during the operation, which uncovered a large-scale illegal lottery racket operating from West Bengal.
According to Sitaramdera Police Station In-Charge Niranjan Kumar, senior officials had received confidential information about regular consignments of illegal lottery tickets being transported through buses.
Acting swiftly, the police team raided the Mango Bus Stand and recovered two large cartons filled with illegal lottery tickets—nearly one lakh in number.
During the operation, police arrested two men—one who was transporting the consignment and another who had arrived to receive it.
The transporter, identified as Paras Mahato, was carrying the illegal lottery tickets to hand over to a person named Mukhiya Tiu, who intended to take them to Chaibasa.
The consignment was reportedly routed from West Bengal via Dhanbad and was part of a larger illegal network.
Police estimate that the seized lottery tickets could have generated illegal business worth approximately Rs 5 crore.
Further investigation is underway to trace the entire network and bring other involved individuals to justice.
