
UditVani, Jamshedpur : In a significant step toward strengthening academic excellence and research innovation, National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee.
The agreement was formalized on Friday at the IIT Roorkee campus.
The MoU was signed by Prof. (Dr.) Goutam Sutradhar, Director of NIT Jamshedpur, and Prof. Kamal Kishore Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, in the presence of Dr. Surajit Kundu and Dr. Sai Ramudu Meka.
This strategic collaboration aims to foster a dynamic academic and research ecosystem between the two premier institutions. Key areas of cooperation include joint research initiatives, co-supervision of Ph.D. scholars, student and faculty exchange programmes, internship opportunities, and support for startup incubation.
Highlighting the significance of the partnership, Prof. Sutradhar expressed confidence that the MoU would be implemented in its true spirit, ensuring meaningful outcomes for both students and faculty.
He underscored the importance of leveraging shared infrastructure such as research parks, innovation centres, and incubation facilities to accelerate cutting-edge research and entrepreneurship.
He also noted the deep-rooted academic connection between the institutions, pointing out that several faculty members at NIT Jamshedpur are distinguished alumni of IIT Roorkee—further strengthening the foundation for collaboration.
During the visit, the NIT Jamshedpur delegation toured several advanced facilities at IIT Roorkee, including the Tinkering Lab, Design and Innovation Centre, Incubation Centre, and the CSIR–Central Building Research Institute, exploring avenues for future joint initiatives.
The partnership marks a promising chapter in inter-institutional collaboration, poised to drive innovation, research excellence, and holistic academic growth.
