
UditVani, Jamshedpur : The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur celebrated International Women’s Day with enthusiasm and dignity on Wednesday at DJLHC 212. The programme was organised to recognise and appreciate the contributions of women faculty members and staff who play an important role in the academic and administrative life of the institute.
Distinguished guests grace the occasion
The celebration was attended by Prof. (Dr.) Anjila Gupta, Vice-Chancellor of Kolhan University, who joined the programme as the chief guest. The event was also graced by the presence of invited guests Mrs. Indrani Sutradhar, Mrs. Deepali Dokania, Mrs. Purabi Ghosh and Dr. Chef Priya Gupta, whose participation added significance to the occasion.
Focus on empowerment and inclusive growth
Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Anjila Gupta spoke about the importance of women’s empowerment in education, leadership and society. She encouraged institutions to create inclusive environments that enable women to grow, excel and take up leadership roles.
Director of the institute, Prof. Goutam Sutradhar, emphasised the need to increase the participation of women as faculty members, students and staff. He acknowledged their valuable contributions to the development of the institute and highlighted the importance of women’s participation in the overall progress of society.
Felicitations and cultural programme mark the celebration
The programme included speeches by invited guests and the felicitation of women faculty members, non-teaching staff and spouses of male faculty members. A cultural programme was also organised, showcasing the creativity and talent within the institute community. The event aimed to recognise the dedication and achievements of women who contribute significantly to the institution.
Message of equality and collective responsibility
Dr. Shubham Tripathi, a member of the organising committee, said that International Women’s Day is an opportunity to acknowledge the strength, determination and accomplishments of women. He added that the occasion also reminds society of its shared responsibility to promote equality and create opportunities for all.
Celebration concludes with cultural performance
The event concluded with a cultural performance by Mrs. Indrani Sutradhar, followed by a networking tea session. Faculty members, staff and guests interacted and shared the spirit of appreciation and celebration. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from members of the institute community as well as media representatives.
