
UditVani, Jamshedpur : As part of the Municipal General Elections 2026, a comprehensive training and scrutiny programme on election expenditure was organised at Birsa Munda Town Hall, Sidgora, under the directions of the District Election Officer (Municipal) and Deputy Commissioner, East Singhbhum.
Candidates contesting from the Mango Municipal Corporation, Jugsalai Municipal Council and Chakulia Nagar Panchayat were briefed on the mandatory submission of detailed election expenditure statements to the Expenditure Monitoring Cell within the stipulated timeline.
Officials explained the Election Commission’s guidelines on maintaining expenditure registers, vouchers and related records, and familiarised candidates with the prescribed accounting procedures.
It was informed that scrutiny of election expenditure accounts would be conducted in three phases – on February 12, February 16 and February 20, 2026 – from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.
For candidates from Mango Municipal Corporation and Jugsalai Municipal Council, the scrutiny venue has been fixed at the Commercial Taxes Office, Jamshedpur (opposite the Treasury Office), while candidates from Chakulia Nagar Panchayat will undergo scrutiny at the Block Office premises, Chakulia.
Candidates were also apprised of the provisions of the Model Code of Conduct and advised to strictly adhere to its norms while carrying out campaign and publicity activities during the election period.
The programme was attended by NEP Director Santosh Garg, Special Sub-Divisional Officer Rahul Anand , along with contesting candidates and their election agents.
