
UditVani, Jamshedpur : Panic gripped passengers aboard the Mumbai–Howrah Duronto Express after unidentified miscreants pelted stones at the speeding train near Manoharpur on Wednesday night.
The attack left one passenger injured and several train windows damaged.
According to sources, the incident occurred as the train was passing through a forested stretch of the Manoharpur section.
The sudden pelting caused chaos among passengers, with many ducking for cover as the stones smashed windowpanes.
The injured traveller was treated onboard by railway medical staff.
Following the attack, Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) teams rushed to the spot and began an investigation.
Senior officials are examining CCTV footage and coordinating with local police to identify and apprehend those responsible.
Railway authorities have described the incident as a “serious safety lapse” and assured that surveillance and patrolling have been intensified across vulnerable stretches.
Additional RPF personnel have been deployed to prevent a repeat of such acts.
Passengers have been advised to stay alert and report any suspicious movement to railway authorities immediately.
