Udit Vani Jamshedpur : The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast the onset of the Southwest Monsoon in Jharkhand within the next 72 hours.
Weather conditions are rapidly evolving, with a series of thunderstorms and heavy rainfall events expected across the state over the coming days.
Weather Forecast (June 14–19):
June 14: Thunderstorms and lightning with gusty winds (30–40 kmph) are likely at isolated places.
June 15–17: Gusty winds reaching 40–50 kmph, along with thunderstorm and lightning activity, are expected across isolated areas.
June 17: Heavy rainfall is likely over southwest and adjoining central parts of the state.
June 18: Isolated heavy rainfall is expected over southern and central Jharkhand.
June 19: Northeastern parts of the state may receive heavy rainfall, with thunderstorm activity continuing elsewhere.
Monsoon Progress:
The Northern Limit of the Monsoon currently extends through Mumbai, Ahilyanagar, Adilabad, Puri, and up to Balurghat. Conditions are favourable for further advancement into additional parts of Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha over the next two days, and into Jharkhand, Gujarat, Bihar, and West Bengal within three days.
Synoptic Overview:
While no major synoptic system is directly influencing Jharkhand at present, a trough extending from the west-central Arabian Sea to South Coastal Odisha—interacting with an upper air cyclonic circulation over parts of Karnataka and Telangana—may enhance monsoon activity in the region.
Advisory:
People are urged to stay updated with official forecasts and exercise caution during thunderstorms and heavy rains. Authorities have been alerted to take necessary precautionary measures, especially in vulnerable regions.
