UditVani, Jamshedpur : The city-based Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital has accelerated efforts to expand its postgraduate (PG) medical education capacity.
The institution has prepared a proposal to increase 38 additional PG seats across various departments.
According to officials, the proposal has been drafted in accordance with the norms of the National Medical Commission, and the process of compiling the required documentation and reports is currently underway for submission.
Sources said that once the proposal receives approval, the number of PG seats at MGM Medical College will increase from the existing 51 to around 89 seats starting from the next academic session.
The MGM administration has already submitted the application seeking permission for the expansion, and preparatory steps are being taken to meet the regulatory requirements set by the National Medical Commission.
If approved, the move is expected to significantly strengthen postgraduate medical education and healthcare training capacity in the Kolhan region, where MGM Medical College remains the largest government medical institution.
