
UditVani, Jamshedpur : In a major boost to healthcare infrastructure in Kolhan, Jharkhand’s Minister for Health, Medical Education & Family Welfare, Food Supplies, and Disaster Management, Dr. Irfan Ansari, on Wednesday inaugurated a state-of-the-art 100-bed fabricated hospital and a newly established Sickle Cell Anaemia Laboratory at Sadar Hospital in Khasmahal.
The lab has been set up with the support of Tata Steel Foundation.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Potka MLA Sanjib Sardar, Jamshedpur East MLA Purnima Sahu, Ghatshila MLA Somesh Chandra Soren, Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi, Civil Surgeon Dr. Sahir Pal, Tata Steel Foundation representative Saurabh Roy, along with several dignitaries and senior officials.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Dr. Ansari said the new facilities mark not just an infrastructural addition but a milestone in strengthening Jharkhand’s healthcare system.
“We are committed to empowering district hospitals to a level where referrals become nearly unnecessary. The state government aims to ensure that every citizen receives quality, accessible, safe, and timely healthcare services,” he said.
He added that the hospital has been constructed as per modern healthcare standards and will be equipped with trained doctors, nurses, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care.
Highlighting the significance of the new diagnostic facility, Dr. Ansari noted, “There was no government lab for sickle cell testing in the entire Kolhan region. With today’s inauguration, patients across Kolhan will finally have access to this crucial diagnostic service.”
He further reiterated that efforts are underway to develop Sadar Hospital, Khasmahal into a full-fledged medical college.
MLAs present at the event also shared their views on better service delivery, improved medical facilities, and strengthening healthcare accessibility across the region.

Key Achievements of Sadar Hospital, Khasmahal
* Under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, East Singhbhum has generated 13,90,546 ABHA IDs, bringing seamless digital health services to citizens.
* Digital systems like Scan & Share and Digital OPD slips are operational at Sadar Hospital Khasmahal, Sub-Divisional Hospital Ghatshila, and Urban CHC Mango, as well as CHCs Baharagora and Dhalbhumgarh. The district aims to make all services fully paperless in the near future.
* East Singhbhum has issued 9,54,894 Ayushman cards, expanding health insurance coverage significantly.
* Under the Sickle Cell Anaemia campaign, 81,650 individuals were screened, out of which 26 patients were identified and treated.
* The 6-bed ICU at Sadar Hospital has treated 193 patients so far in FY 2025–26.
* The Dialysis Unit has conducted 835 dialysis sessions in the same period.
* The 12-bed SNCU has provided treatment to 344 newborns this financial year.
* A special blood donation drive conducted between November 12 and 28, collected 3,093 units of blood, the highest in Jharkhand.
• 764 epilepsy patients have been identified and are receiving treatment.
The inauguration of the new hospital and diagnostic lab marks a major stride toward strengthening public healthcare in the Kolhan region, reinforcing the state’s commitment to ensuring quality medical services for all.
