UditVani, Jamshedpur : The State Election Commission has released the schedule for the election of nine Deputy Mayors in municipal corporations and 39 Vice-Chairpersons in municipal councils and nagar panchayats across the state.
While the elections for Mayors in nine municipal corporations and Chairpersons in 19 municipal councils and 20 nagar panchayats have already been completed, the process will now move to the indirect election of Deputy Mayors and Vice-Chairpersons.
According to the Commission’s notification, notices for convening meetings will be issued between March 2 and March 20, and the elections will be conducted during this period through indirect voting by elected representatives.
In the Kolhan region, notices for meetings in municipal corporations, municipal councils and nagar panchayats will be issued on March 6 and 7, while elections are scheduled for March 14, 16, 17 and 18.
In East Singhbhum district, Mango Municipal Corporation will issue the notice on March 7, and a meeting of the newly elected Mayor and councillors will be held on March 17 to conduct the indirect election of the Deputy Mayor.
For Jugsalai Municipal Council, the notice will be issued on March 7 and the meeting for the Vice-Chairperson’s election will take place on March 16.
In Chakulia Nagar Panchayat, the notice will also be issued on March 7, with the election scheduled for March 18.
In Seraikela-Kharsawan district, Adityapur Municipal Corporation will issue its notice on March 7 and hold the Deputy Mayor election on March 16.
Kapali Municipal Council will follow the same schedule, with both notice issuance and the meeting set for March 7 and March 16 respectively.
Seraikela Nagar Panchayat will issue the notice on March 7, with the election slated for March 17.
In West Singhbhum district, Chaibasa and Chakradharpur Municipal Councils will issue notices on March 6 and conduct elections on March 14.
The Commission has directed all concerned bodies to adhere strictly to the prescribed schedule to ensure the smooth and timely completion of the indirect electoral process.
