Jamshedpur : In a significant initiative aimed at addressing the growing loneliness and health-related concerns of elderly citizens, a new social organization named Jeevan Jyoti has been formally established in Jamshedpur.
The organization was formed under the leadership of social worker Manoj Mishra during a meeting held at Avinash Nagar, Dimna Road in Mango today.
The inaugural meeting saw the official constitution of a nine-member coordinating committee. It was decided that weekly meetings of the organization will be held every Sunday at Avinash Nagar.
Speaking on the occasion, Manoj Mishra elaborated on the objectives of Jeevan Jyoti. He stated that with increasing age, elderly individuals face numerous challenges, particularly related to their health and emotional well-being. “Many senior citizens, even while living in joint families, are experiencing loneliness. Others are separated from their children who have relocated for jobs, leaving them isolated and worried about their declining health,” he added.
Jeevan Jyoti aims to bridge this gap by providing better health services and creating a supportive social and familial environment for the elderly. The organization also plans to expand its activities in the near future.
Members of the newly formed coordination committee include R.B. Sahay, Bindeshwari Singh, Shailendra Shukla, B.D. Tiwari, Lal Bahadur Prasad, Vijay Kumar, G.P. Mehta, and S. Chaudhary from the Sales Tax department.
The meeting also witnessed participation from JHRC members including Salawat Mahto, Kishore Verma, Nibha Shukla, Subhashree Dutta, among others.
The formation of Jeevan Jyoti marks a positive step toward creating a more inclusive and caring society for the elderly population of Jamshedpur.
