
UditVani, Jamshedpur: The Vidyadeep Foundation announced the organisation of Jamshedpur Literature Festival 2025, scheduled for December 20 and 21 at Hotel Ramada in Bistupur.
The announcement was made during a press conference held in Sakchi today.
Festival convener Sandeep Murarka said the event would be a confluence of art, literature and ideas, bringing together eminent writers, journalists, artists, administrators, thinkers and Padma Shri awardees from across India and abroad.
Convener Kamal Kishore Agrawal informed that renowned personalities from the film and web series world will interact with the audience, including Panchayat actor Pankaj Jha, Scam 1992 fame Rajesh Jais, and acclaimed filmmaker Abhishek Chaubey.
Highlighting the art segment, Convener Ajay Bhalotia said that celebrated painter Manish Pushkale, Padma Shri awardee Gond artist Bhajju Shyam, Warli art expert Akanksha Singh, and Sohrai artist Punita Kumari will showcase the magic of canvas and brush.
Convener Mantu Agrawal announced cultural evenings featuring folk singer Rahgir on December 20 at 7.30 pm and internationally acclaimed Kalbeliya dancer Padma Shri Gulabo Sapera on December 21 at 7.30 pm.
Entry passes will be mandatory for both performances.
Organising Committee Convener Abhishek Agrawal Goldy stated that Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh will deliver a special lecture on December 20 at 5.30 pm.
Committee member Aakash Modi said senior bureaucrats who actively engage with literature and arts will enrich the festival, including Vashishth Chaudhary (IRS), Saurabh Tiwari, Ritu Sharma (IRS), Anju Ranjan (IFS), Excise Commissioner Mukesh Nema and Revenue Service officer Vaibhavmani Tripathi.
Founder of Sahyog, Dr Juhi Samarpita, said senior journalists such as Dr Anjum Sharma (India Today), Priyadarshan (NDTV), Anuj Kumar Sinha, Dr Rakesh Kumar and Sanjay Krishna will participate in discussions.
Sahyog President Dr Mudita Chandra highlighted sessions on environment and river discourse featuring Sopan Joshi, Padma Shri Laxman Singh, Padma Shri Sundaram Verma, Padma Shri Jamuna Tudu, Padma Shri Chami Murmu, Dr Dinesh Mishra and Dr Shiv Om Singh. Padma Shri awardees and inspiring personalities will also be felicitated during the festival.
Convener Dr Ragini Bhushan said international perspectives will be shared by Prof Swati Parashar (Sweden) and Vinod Dubey (Singapore), while cartoonists Abid Surti and Manoj Kumar Sinha will connect audiences through satire and caricature.
The festival will also feature poetry, ghazals, satire, journalism and art workshops, a book fair, felicitation of local litterateurs, inauguration of the Poorvottar Gita Gyan Yatra, and collective rendition of Vande Mataram.
Concluding the announcement, Convener Sandeep Murarka said that Chief Minister Hemant Soren, state ministers Sudivya Kumar Sonu and Yogendra Prasad, former minister Banna Gupta, SSP Piyush Pandey and senior Tata Steel official D.B. Sundaram are expected to attend the inaugural and valedictory ceremonies.
He described the festival as not merely a literary event but a cultural movement, where ideas, art and sensitivity will resonate together, giving voice to the spirit of Jamshedpur—“Where words and art live, society awakens.”
