UditVani, Jamshedpur : In view of the upcoming Holi festivities and the annual Founders’ Day celebrations, the district administration and police in Jamshedpur have unveiled a comprehensive special traffic plan to ensure smooth vehicular movement and maintain public safety across the city.
Complete Ban on Heavy Vehicles
As part of the arrangements, the administration has imposed a complete ban on the movement of all trucks and other heavy vehicles -except buses -from March 3 to March 5.
The decision has been taken to manage the anticipated surge in traffic and crowd movement during the festive period.
Time-Specific Restrictions
According to the official schedule, heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter key city roads during the following hours:
March 3 (Monday): 3:00 PM to 12:00 midnight
March 4 (Tuesday): 6:00 AM to 12:00 midnight
March 5 (Wednesday): 3:00 PM to 12:00 midnight
Authorities believe these restrictions will significantly ease congestion during peak celebration hours.
Overlap of Founders’ Day and Holi
Every year on March 3, the city commemorates Founders’ Day in honor of Jamsetji Tata, the founder of the Tata Group.
The day is marked by cultural, social, and industrial events across the steel city. In 2026, the celebrations coincide with Holi, further intensifying crowd movement and traffic pressure. Keeping this in mind, the administration has opted for stricter regulatory measures.
Stern Warning to Troublemakers
The police have issued a clear warning against hooliganism during Holi.
Special drives will be conducted against individuals involved in unruly behavior, forced color application, drunken driving, and acts disturbing public peace. Additional police forces will be deployed at sensitive intersections, marketplaces, and crowded zones. Surveillance will be strengthened through drones and CCTV cameras to ensure real-time monitoring.
Appeal to Citizens
Traffic authorities have urged residents to strictly adhere to route diversions and time restrictions.
Citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and comply with traffic norms to facilitate a peaceful and safe celebration. The administration has reiterated that stringent legal action will be taken against anyone found violating the rules.
The overarching aim, officials emphasized, is to ensure that both Holi and Founders’ Day are celebrated in a harmonious, secure, and well-managed environment.
