UditVani, Jamshedpur : Jamshedpur FC forward Heeranganba Seram has been retained in the India U17 National Team probables list after impressing at the recently concluded selection trials in Goa, conducted by the All India Football Federation (AIFF).
The 16-year-old striker from Manipur, who has been a part of JFC’s youth setup for the past three years, had first received a call-up to the national camp in July.
His strong performances during the trials have now secured his continued stay with the squad, where he will remain under assessment ahead of two key international assignments.
According to the AIFF, Heeranganba will keep training with the U17 side, with final selection dependent on his progress and consistency. The probables are being prepared for the upcoming SAFF U17 Championship, to be held in Sri Lanka from September 15 to 27, and the AFC U17 Asian Cup Qualifiers, scheduled in Ahmedabad from November 22 to 30.
A prolific forward, Heeranganba was Jamshedpur FC’s top scorer in the AIFF U17 Elite League earlier this year, netting 13 goals in 13 matches and guiding the team to a runners-up finish. His sharp finishing and consistency drew the attention of national selectors, paving the way for his current opportunity.
