
UditVani, Jamshedpur : In view of the traditional Tazia processions to be held on Sunday, July 6, for the observance of Muharram, the East Singhbhum district administration has announced a comprehensive traffic diversion plan across Jamshedpur city.
Anticipating large crowds, musical processions, and display of arms as part of religious rituals, the administration is implementing route restrictions to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of the processions.
The directives have been issued under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi, Senior Superintendent of Police Piyush Pandey, and Traffic DSP. The traffic plan will remain in effect throughout the day and evening of July 6.
Key Highlights of the Traffic Diversion Plan:
* Citywide Traffic Diversion on Procession Routes
* Vehicular movement on several main roads will either be restricted or diverted throughout July 6 to allow unhindered passage of processions.
Bistupur Region:
* The Tazia procession will pass from Dhatkidih to Bistupur’s Bodhanwala Ghat.
* Vehicles to/from Parishadan and Regal Roundabout will be diverted to adjacent lanes.
* Vehicles passing through Bistupur Market, Voltas, and Regal Roundabout will follow one-way arrangements along designated side lanes.
Parsudih, Jugsalai, and Sunder Nagar Routes:
During processions heading towards Bodhanwala Ghat from Parsudih and Jugsalai, vehicles from Sunder Nagar and those heading toward it via Voltas will be allowed to move in one lane only.
Special Arrangements in Sakchi:
* During the procession from Mohammedan Line, vehicles from Baridih to Sakchi and vice versa will be rerouted via Hanuman Mandir – Sheetla Mandir – Delhi Darbar Road.
* Procession from Sakchi Roundabout to Bengal Club will enforce one-lane traffic on that stretch.
* During the Bengal Club to Pump House procession, vehicles from Jubilee Park Gate No. 1 and those from Mango toward Sakchi/Bistupur must use only one designated lane.
Mango and Azadnagar Regions:
* Mango Police Station procession will move via Big Hanuman Mandir to Mango Chowk.
* Azadnagar Police Station procession will take Old Purulia Road – Mango Roundabout – Sakchi.
* All vehicles from Pardih Chowk to Sakchi will be diverted towards Dimna Chowk.
* Vehicles from Old Purulia Road and Pardih Chowk will also be rerouted to Dimna Chowk.
Telco Region:
* The procession will proceed from Barinagar to Hudco Dam via M-Type Chowk – G Hostel – N-Type – Dhobi Chowk – Khadangajhar Chowk – Telco Hospital.
* The route from M-Type to Dhobi Ghat will function as a one-way during the procession hours.
Restrictions on heavy vehicles will be imposed on July 6 and 7
Earlier notified No-Entry timings for heavy vehicles will remain unchanged for other days.
Emergency Services Unaffected
The administration has instructed all police stations and traffic officials to ensure alternate routes for ambulances and emergency service vehicles in all affected areas.
Public Advisory and Appeal
The district administration has appealed to the public and commuters to remain patient and cooperate with the temporary arrangements. Citizens are urged to strictly follow route diversions and traffic advisories for the peaceful and safe observance of Muharram rituals. Additional traffic personnel will be deployed as needed to manage flow and provide on-ground assistance.
These proactive traffic regulations have been designed to uphold public safety, religious harmony, and civic convenience, underscoring the administration’s commitment to maintaining peace during major public events.
