UditVani, Jamshedpur : The Jamshedpur traffic police has announced a special traffic plan for the upcoming Chhath Mahaparv, one of the most significant festivals in the region.
To ensure smooth movement of devotees and maintain order at the ghats, the entry of heavy and goods vehicles into the city limits will be strictly prohibited for three days — from October 26 to October 28.
According to the official notification, changes have been made to the No Entry timings for goods carriers and commercial transport vehicles.
The decision aims to ease congestion on major routes leading to prominent Chhath ghats and marketplaces across the city.
During the festive period, devotees are expected to gather in large numbers at riverbanks, ponds, and artificial ghats across areas such as Sonari, Bistupur, Kadma, Baridih, Golmuri, Telco, and Mango, among others.
The movement of vehicles will be regulated to prevent traffic jam and ensure the safety of pedestrians and worshippers.
Traffic officials have also advised citizens to cooperate with the police and follow diversion routes displayed at key intersections. Heavy vehicles have been instructed to use the outer bypass and alternative routes via NH-33 and Adityapur-Kandra Road during the restricted hours.
Special police deployment will be in place near major ghats, and additional personnel will be stationed at traffic-sensitive points to manage the flow of vehicles and devotees effectively.
The administration has urged transporters and business operators to plan their logistics accordingly and avoid bringing heavy vehicles into the city during the restriction period.
This temporary measure is part of the city’s broader initiative to ensure a safe, peaceful, and congestion-free celebration of Chhath Puja 2025.
