Officials raided sites where a JCB and other heavy earth moving machineries were being used to extract emeralds without permits.
Late Thursday evening, authorities filed an FIR against unknown individuals suspected to be involved in the illegal mining activities.
The operation highlights the administration’s intensified efforts to curb unlawful mining and prevent exploitation of natural resources in the region.
Residents have welcomed the action, noting that illegal mining not only damages the environment but also fuels law-and-order concerns in the area. The administration has warned that strict measures will continue against anyone attempting unauthorized mining in East Singhbhum.
