UditVani, Jamshedpur : A devastating fire engulfed the Amul (Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation) warehouse in Simuldanga, located along National Highway-33 in the MGM police station area, during the early hours of Saturday.
The inferno caused massive damage, with losses estimated in lakhs.
The fire broke out when most people in the area were still asleep. According to eyewitnesses, thick plumes of smoke and towering flames were visible from nearly two kilometers away, triggering panic in the surrounding localities. Alarmed by the sight, residents rushed toward the warehouse.
Responding swiftly, four fire tenders reached the spot and began firefighting operations. Given the scale of the fire, a special rescue team was also dispatched from Jamshedpur to assist.
Warehouse owner Deepak Lohra said the fire had already spread across the entire premises by the time he arrived.
The warehouse, spread over approximately one acre, contained large stocks of dairy products, packaged items, and equipment. Preliminary investigations suggest that a short circuit may have triggered the blaze.
Despite hours of effort, fire crews were yet to completely control the flames at the time of reporting.
Local administration and power department officials have also arrived on-site to assess the situation and initiate an investigation into the cause.
