Jamshedpur: In a shocking incident highlighting the growing audacity of criminals in the city, an elderly woman was drugged and robbed in broad daylight in Harharguttu’s Pramkunj area under Bagbera police station on Monday afternoon.
According to sources, the victim, P. Nagamani—widow of a former railway employee—was alone at home when two men on a motorcycle targeted her.
One of the culprits posed as a refrigerator cleaner to gain entry into the house. Upon entering, he sprayed a sedative substance on the woman and snatched two gold bangles from her hands before she could fall unconscious.
The entire incident was captured on the home’s CCTV camera. The footage shows one man entering the house through the main gate, while the other stayed outside on a bike, keeping watch.
Following the incident, Bagbera police reached the scene and began an investigation.
Officials believe the crime was premeditated and that the suspects had conducted prior surveillance of the area.
P. Nagamani’s husband had passed away several years ago, and with her daughters married and her son working out of town, she was living alone.
Police are currently analyzing the CCTV footage to identify the culprits and have expressed confidence in solving the case soon.
