UditVani, Jamshedpur: The Steel City has been placed under an extensive security blanket as the district police gear up to ensure a peaceful and harmonious celebration of Holi and Founder’s Day.
With elaborate arrangements in place, the administration has adopted a zero-tolerance approach toward miscreants, hooliganism, and traffic violations.
Massive Security Deployment Across District
In one of the largest festive deployments in recent years, 3,000 police personnel have been mobilized across East Singhbhum district.
Of these, 1,000 officers have been assigned to urban centres, while 2,000 personnel will guard rural pockets to prevent any untoward incidents.
Senior Superintendent of Police Piyush Pandey has directed all police stations to undertake preventive measures, including flag marches in their respective jurisdictions to promote peace and communal harmony.
Station house officers have been instructed to keep strict vigil on anti-social elements and take immediate action against rumour mongers.
Focus on Sensitive Areas
Special attention has been given to sensitive and high-footfall areas. Magistrates along with adequate police forces have been deployed in key localities such as Jugsalai, Mango, Sakchi, and Dhatkidih to maintain law and order.
Continuous patrolling and neighbourhood surveillance are being intensified to deter potential troublemakers.
Zero Tolerance for Miscreants
The district police have made it clear that celebrations will not be allowed to turn unruly. The focus areas include:
* Strict action against public alcohol consumption.
* Crackdown on hooliganism and disorderly conduct.
* Arms verification drives across the district.
* Intensive area domination and patrolling exercises.
* Drunk driving checks will be conducted at major junctions using breath analysers.
* Traffic police will also act firmly against over speeding, triple riding, and stunt riding.
Special Measures for Women’s Safety
To ensure the safety of women during festivities, special teams have been formed:
* Plainclothes officers will monitor crowded markets, parks, and public gathering spots.
* Youth groups prone to mischief in residential colonies will remain under strict observation.
* Authorities have reiterated that eve-teasing or harassment in any form will invite immediate legal action.
Social Media Under Scanner
With digital platforms often becoming breeding grounds for misinformation during festivals, the police have activated a dedicated social media monitoring cell.
All major platforms are under surveillance for inflammatory or misleading content.
Circulating rumours or objectionable material will attract stringent legal consequences.
Citizens have been urged to verify information before forwarding it.
Special Traffic Plan & Ban on Heavy Vehicles
In view of anticipated crowds during Holi and Founder’s Day, the district administration has rolled out a special traffic management plan.
Complete ban on heavy vehicles:
From March 3 to March 5, the movement of all trucks and heavy vehicles — except buses — will remain fully prohibited within city limits to ease congestion and enhance safety.
Time-specific restrictions on main roads:
* March 3 (Tuesday): 3:00 PM to 12:00 Midnight
* March 4 (Wednesday): 6:00 AM to 12:00 Midnight
* March 5 (Thursday): 3:00 PM to 12:00 Midnight
Heavy vehicles will not be permitted to enter major city roads during these periods.
Public Advisory
The police administration has appealed to residents to celebrate Holi in a traditional, peaceful, and responsible manner.
Citizens have been urged to promptly report any suspicious activity by dialing the emergency helpline or informing the nearest police station.
The administration’s message is clear — let the festival of colours be marked by joy, unity, and celebration, but without compromising on law and order.
