
UditVani, Jamshedpur: The district administration of East Singhbhum is set to organise it’s maiden East Singhbhum Literature Festival from January 9 to 11 at Gopal Maidan in Bistupur.
The three-day festival aims to promote literature, art, culture and the preservation of tribal heritage, marking a significant cultural initiative in the district.
The festival will bring together renowned writers, poets, historians, thinkers and cultural practitioners from across the country.
Several Padma Shri awardees, eminent scholars and contemporary authors will participate in literary discussions, book talks and interactive sessions.
Notable participants include Padma Shri Dr Jaanum Singh Soy, Padma Shri Haldhar Nag, Padma Shri Dr Pushpesh Pant, along with Dr Narayan Oraon, Dr Anuj Lugun, Dr Parvati Tirkey, Dr Ashok Kumar Sen, Dr Pragya Sharma, Dr Himanshu Bajpai, Dr Surinder Singh Jodhka, Dr Neha Tiwari, Jerry Pinto, Neelotpal Mrinal, Chandrhas Choudhary, Mahadev Toppo, Sanjay Kachhap, Niranjan Kujur, Ranendra Kumar, Raja Kazmi, Bikram Grewal, Akshay Bahibala, Rahul Pandita, Saurav Roy, Premchand Oraon, Ravindranath Murmu, Yaduvansh Pranay, Anukriti Upadhyay, Joba Murmu, Shatabdi Mishra and several other literary voices.
The festival will feature sessions on tribal languages and literature, indigenous history, caste and class in contemporary India, storytelling, translation, creative writing, cinema, photography and youth engagement.
Book discussions, author interactions and thematic conversations will be held across all three days.
Alongside literary sessions, the festival will host vibrant cultural and artistic events, including live glitter art, live painting, pottery, band performances, tribal dances, traditional welcomes, theatrical presentation “Lohe Ka Aadmi Aur Loharin”, Chhau dance, tribal games and book and story stalls for visitors.
Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi said the objective of the literature festival is to take literature to the masses, provide a platform to young writers and give East Singhbhum a distinct identity on the literary map of the country.
The district administration has appealed to literature lovers, students, youth and citizens to actively participate and make the festival a success.
