Jamshedpur : As the monsoon season is very close, the East Singhbhum district administration has gone on high alert, taking swift and coordinated action to prevent the spread of dengue.
Under the directives of Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal, a high-level Dengue Task Force meeting was held at the Collectorate Auditorium to map out a proactive and strategic response.
Top Officials Join Forces for a Dengue-Free Monsoon
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Development Commissioner Aniket Sachan and saw participation from Dhalbhum SDO Shatabdi Majumdar, MGM Hospital’s Deputy Superintendent Dr. Jujhar Majhi, ACMO Dr. Jogeshwar Prasad, District Malaria Officer Dr. A. Mitra, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Krishan Kumar, District PRO Panchanan Oraon, and representatives from private hospitals, industrial organizations, and NGOs.
From Reaction to Prevention: A Shift in Strategy
Officials emphasized the need for a proactive, not reactive approach. Departments will operate under a clearly defined action calendar, ensuring timely and targeted interventions. Hospitals are now required to submit daily reports, and even a single case of dengue will trigger immediate surveillance and control measures.
Public Awareness to Lead the Charge
Awareness is being positioned as a core weapon in this fight. The administration plans to actively engage school children, community leaders, and voluntary groups. Creative tools such as street plays, poster exhibitions, and awareness vans will be used to reach the public effectively.
Door-to-Door Vigilance: No Area Left Behind
SDO Shatabdi Majumdar stressed the importance of grassroots involvement. The campaign will extend to every ward, neighborhood, and school. Special attention will be given to previously identified hotspots, where teams will conduct cleanliness drives, regular site inspections, and anti-larval treatments.
Fogging, Spraying, and Clean Drains on the Agenda
Urban local bodies will lead extensive fogging, spraying, and waterlogging removal drives. In parallel, public information campaigns will continue through all available media to educate citizens. District Malaria Officer Dr. Mitra provided vital insights on symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and preventive measures.
Unified Front, United Mission
All stakeholders present pledged their full cooperation with the administration. A community-driven strategy will be central to every next step, ensuring widespread participation and effective control of dengue throughout the rainy season.
With strong coordination, early planning, and active public involvement, Jamshedpur sets a determined example in protecting its people from the threat of dengue.
