
UditVani, Jamshedpur: In a firm push to strengthen fiscal discipline and administrative efficiency, Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi chaired a high-level review meeting at the Collectorate, taking stock of revenue collection, land acquisition, certificate cases and encroachment on Tata Lease land.
All departments were categorically directed to ensure full achievement of their prescribed revenue targets within the current financial year, with a renewed focus on boosting internal resources.
The Deputy Commissioner underlined that departments lagging in collections must adopt time-bound action plans and intensify measures such as taxpayer audits, field inspections, recovery from defaulters and data-driven assessments to secure rightful revenue.
The review revealed that the State Tax Department has so far achieved 65 per cent of its annual target in the Urban Circle, 53.19 per cent in the Jamshedpur Circle and 52.85 per cent in the Singhbhum Circle.
Expressing concern over the Mining Department’s 35 per cent achievement against its annual target, the Deputy Commissioner sought a detailed strategy from the District Mining Officer and issued directions for immediate corrective steps to enhance revenue inflow.
The Excise Department reported 80 per cent collection and assured that the remaining target would be met within the stipulated time.
In the Registration sector, the Jamshedpur Sub-Registrar Office has achieved 66.20 per cent of its target, while Ghatsila has already recorded complete achievement. Officials were cautioned to ensure absolute transparency, particularly in the registration of government land.
The Transport Department has reached 94 per cent of its annual target, while urban local bodies including JNAC, Mango Municipal Corporation and the municipal councils of Jugsalai and Chakulia have crossed the 65 per cent mark.
The Power Department’s Mango and Jamshedpur divisions have achieved full recovery, with Ghatsila nearing completion at approximately 97 per cent.
While reviewing pending certificate cases, the Additional Deputy Commissioner instructed officials to expedite recovery through statutory measures, including issuance of notices, attachment of property, execution of warrants and auctions wherever required.
Land acquisition issues related to national and state highway projects were also examined, with emphasis on timely compensation to landowners, forest clearances, utility shifting, verification reports and coordinated field inspections.
Encroachment on Tata Lease land emerged as a key concern, particularly in road corridors, major intersections and market areas.
The Deputy Commissioner directed strict, lawful action against all encroachments obstructing traffic and public movement, while stressing strict compliance with the orders of the Jharkhand High Court, Ranchi.
Senior district officials, including the Director (NEP)-cum-Additional Deputy Commissioner, Deputy Municipal Commissioner (JNAC), District Land Acquisition Officer, SDO Ghatsila, Executive Engineer of the Road Division, all Circle Officers, and representatives from NHAI, Tata Steel, Railways and other concerned agencies, were present during the review meeting.
