
UditVani, Jamshedpur : The 75th edition of the prestigious Steel City Golf Tournament gathered momentum on Saturday, as the lush 18-hole Beldih and Golmuri Golf Courses came alive with spirited competition and refined sporting excellence.
One of eastern India’s most celebrated golfing events, the tournament has drawn an impressive field of over 250 golfers from across the country, including Patna, Bhubaneswar, Paradip, Ranchi, Delhi, and host city Jamshedpur.
Robust participation from local golfers has further sharpened the competitive edge.
The landmark tournament was formally inaugurated a day earlier at the Golmuri Golf Course by former Union Minister and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda.
A keen golfer himself, Munda ceremonially teed off the championship and lauded the organisers for upholding the tournament’s rich heritage and high standards over the decades.
Saturday’s action unfolded across multiple categories, with golfers displaying precision, consistency, and resilience amid the scenic charm of the twin courses. Enthusiastic spectators were treated to high-calibre performances, while the event continued to reflect exemplary organisation, sportsmanship, and camaraderie – hallmarks of the Steel City Golf Tournament.
The tournament has witnessed the presence and support of several distinguished personalities, including Jamshedpur Golf Secretary Neeraj Kumar Sinha; Abhijit Avinash Nanoti, Chief – Safety, Tata Steel ; Varun Bajaj, Managing Director, JCAPCPL; B. Chandrashekhar, Chairperson, DBMS; Ranaveer Sinha, Global President, XLRI Alumni Committee; and prominent businessman Rajen Kamani.
The championship will culminate on Sunday, with TV Narendran, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Steel, scheduled to grace the closing ceremony and felicitate the winners.
