UditVani, Jamshedpur : A man has accused a local couple of cheating him of Rs 20 lakh by promising a permanent job at Telco.
The victim, Gopal Krishna Singh of Namda Basti, Galudih, lodged a complaint at Golmuri police station against Jagdamba Singh and his wife Vandana Devi, residents of Cross Road No. 4 behind Telco Gulmohar School.
According to the complaint, the accused claimed they could arrange a permanent job at Telco and collected Rs 20 lakh from Singh between January 2023 and January 2025 in multiple installments.
Despite repeated assurances, neither the promised job was provided nor the money returned. Singh alleged that whenever he asked for a refund, the couple kept delaying, forcing him to approach the police.
Golmuri police confirmed receiving the complaint and said an investigation is underway. Preliminary findings suggest the accused deliberately orchestrated the fraud. Police assured that strict action would follow after the inquiry.
Officials have also cautioned the public against falling prey to such fraudulent job promises and urged citizens to verify all claims before making any monetary transactions.
