
UditVani, Jamshedpur : Tata Steel has announced the theme and detailed programme for Founder’s Day 2026, to be observed in Jamshedpur on March 3. The occasion marks the 187th birth anniversary of the company’s Founder, Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, and will be celebrated through a series of cultural, technological, and sporting events across the city.
Citywide Illumination and Public Celebrations
As part of the celebrations, the city will witness extensive illumination of major roads, roundabouts, public buildings, and parks, transforming Jamshedpur into a festive landscape. Public engagement remains central to the celebrations, with citizens invited to participate in multiple events spread over several days.
Jubilee Park to Open for Citizens
Jubilee Park will serve as the focal point of Founder’s Day festivities. The Founder’s Day lighting will be inaugurated on March 2 at 6:30 PM. Public illumination at the park will be available from March 3 to March 6, except March 4, between 5:00 PM and 11:00 PM.
Entry and exit arrangements have been clearly defined for both pedestrians and vehicles to ensure smooth movement and crowd management. A laser show has also been scheduled on March 3, 5, and 6, with three daily shows in the evening.
Illuminated Roads, Buildings, and Parks
Key arterial roads, prominent roundabouts, and landmark buildings across the city will be illuminated during the celebrations. Several well-known parks, including Jubilee Park, Sir Dorabji Tata Park, Postal Park, and Centenary Park, will also be lit up, enhancing the festive atmosphere throughout the city.
Security, Parking, and Public Assistance
A comprehensive security and assistance plan has been put in place. Over 200 police personnel, along with security staff and NCC cadets, will be deployed. CCTV surveillance, metal detectors, public address systems, ambulances, and dedicated helpline numbers will support crowd safety and emergency response. Multiple parking zones have been earmarked near Jubilee Park and adjoining areas for public convenience.
Founder’s Homage Ceremony at Postal Park
A formal homage ceremony will be held at Postal Park, Bistupur, on March 3 at 9:30 AM. Members of the public will be allowed to pay homage from 10:00 AM onwards. Special arrangements, including a media enclosure and controlled entry and exit, have been planned for the event.
TechEx 2026 Showcases Innovation
The 15th Science and Technology Exhibition, TechEx 2026, will be hosted at SNTI. The exhibition will highlight innovation and problem-solving skills through working models, digital solutions, and interactive exhibits. Open to the public from March 3 to March 5, TechEx brings together trainees, academicians, industry leaders, students, and citizens under the theme “One Tata Steel.”
Founder’s Day Sports Add Energy to Celebrations
The Founder’s Day Sports FY’26 will be held on March 2 and 3 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex. Around 350 participants will compete in 33 events, with inclusive participation from corporate executives, trainees, group company employees, specially-abled children, and transpersons.
The sports meet will conclude with a march past and prize distribution ceremony, adding colour and vibrancy to the Founder’s Day celebrations.
